We're Getting Closer!

The season is taking shape—and this is just a glimpse of what’s coming together.

Amber Albrecht — Hardscrabble Farm
Amber continues to grow what thrives on her land, while expanding into new ground this season. With the greenhouse well underway, expect a strong presence of heat-loving crops—basil, a range of tomatoes, squashes, and more—alongside the vegetables, herbs, and flowers she’s known for. There’s more in the works than we’re naming here.

Christina Pechloff — Christina’s Garden
Christina is bringing microgreens and salad mixes into the CSA—but not the usual lettuce blends. Her focus is on brassicas—mustard greens, mizuna in different colours, and other layered, flavour-forward mixes—along with additional crops that will unfold as the season progresses.

Jody Waldie & Jean-Daniel Cusin — Ravenvale Farm
Ravenvale is fully in motion. Alongside peas and cabbage, they’re growing multiple varieties of potatoes, plus tomatoes, lettuces, kale, and fava beans. Productive, steady, and building toward a diverse and abundant season—with more still to come.

This is just a starting point. As the season unfolds, you’ll see more coming in—from occasional growers, fruit producers, herbs, flowers, and whatever is thriving at the right moment.

Each week, we’ll send a short email with what’s in your share, along with recipes, notes from the growers, and the occasional video from the field.
Bring a bag for your produce.

We’ll also share details on meals, growing days, work parties, and community gatherings as they come up.

Extras and specialty items will be available at the market.

We’re starting at the Mayne Island Farmers Market on May 16, taking a short two-week pause, and returning in June.
The first CSA pick-up begins June 13.

CSA PRE-SIGN-UP FORM

We’re launching a community-based
CSA for the 2026 growing season!

Based on last season’s Growers & Eaters surveys, follow-up conversations, and our fall potluck, several Mayne Island growers, farmers, and micro-producers are collaborating to offer a shared Mayne Island Growers Community CSA—rooted in local coordination, realistic planning, and seasonal abundance.

We're focused on CSA membership pre-sign-up.
At this stage, we’re asking for soft commitments so growers can plan crops, order seed, and coordinate production responsibly.

How the CSA Will Work (proposed):
The CSA could run for approximately 16 weeks, with the goal of extending into the shoulder season where possible.

Share Options (estimate):
  • Full Share (household of ~3–4 people):
    ~$45/week
    ▸ Weekly option
    ▸ Bi-weekly option
  • Small Share (individuals or couples):
    ~$25/week
    ▸ Weekly option
    ▸ Bi-weekly option
Final pricing and share quantities will be confirmed once we know how many households are participating.

What We’re Asking For Now:
Step One: Pre-Sign-Up (Soft Commitment)
This is not a payment—just an indication of:
  • Which share option you’re interested in
  • Whether you prefer weekly or bi-weekly
  • Any notes we should consider
Pre-sign-up deadline:
January 11, 2026

Growers need these numbers to finalize seed orders and planting plans.
Once we reach capacity, additional sign-ups will be placed on a waitlist.

What Happens Next:
Once grower planning is complete and share numbers are confirmed:
  • Members will be asked to secure their spot with a 50% deposit
  • Target deposit date: first week of February (this is standard practice for many CSAs and supports early-season costs)
  • Remaining balance due: June 1
  • CSA start date: June 13
Pick-Up & Access
  • Primary pick-up: Saturday Farmers Market (Mayne Island)
  • Delivery: Available for members with mobility challenges
  • Surplus produce, add-ons, and bumper crops (eggs, meat, specialty items) will continue to be available through:
    • The Mayne Island Growers market booth
    • Occasional add-on options for CSA members
Ready to Participate?
  • You are not committing to payment at this stage.
  • There will be a limited number of shares.
  • Once capacity is reached, additional sign-ups will be placed on a waitlist.

We're just getting started!

We’re planting the seeds of something special…

Mayne Island Growers is a new virtual gathering place for our island’s incredible small farms, backyard growers, and micro-producers. Together, we’re building a local food system—a shared umbrella where we can get our fresh, homegrown goodness to the Farmers Market, launch a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, and make it easier for both locals and visitors to access seasonal, island-grown food.

Whether you’re a grower or an eater who loves good healthy food, you are part of our place-based food system plan! We're creating shared marketing, streamlining distribution, reducing overhead, and even dreaming of growing more food together—strengthening food security and wellness for everyone on Mayne.

To get started, we need to hear from you!

Help us understand what’s growing, what’s needed, and how we can grow stronger together.

👉 Growers' Survey – Tell us what you’re growing, what you’d like to sell, and how we can support you.

👉 Eaters' Survey – Tell us what you’d love to see on your plates and how you want to buy local food.
